I am fascinated by the banksia’s seed pods, which only open after specific environmental triggers, like fire. Beginning with ink, pigment and water spray, I allowed drips and natural shapes to form. The dark areas became the pods emerging through the layers. This piece reflects my own story of post traumatic growth after spinal cord injury and reminder of how life is a natural cycle of challenge and growth.
